Sketchitations Privacy Policy
Effective October 4, 2026 · Next Lifetime Ventures LLC
Sketchitations is a drawing game with two ways to play. Pass-and-play runs entirely on your device and collects nothing. Online play is optional and stores a small amount of information on our servers so that people on different devices can play together. We don’t show ads, we don’t track you, and we don’t sell information.
Pass-and-play
Nothing leaves your device. To let you pause and resume, the current game (the player names you type, the phrases, guesses and drawings) is saved in the app’s private storage. It is replaced when you start a new game, and you can remove it with "Discard saved game" on the home screen or by uninstalling the app.
If Android’s device backup is turned on, Android may include the saved game in that backup. The backup is handled by Google under your Google account.
Online play
Online play is for ages 13 and up. The first time you tap Play online, the app asks what year you were born. Only the result (old enough or not) is kept, on your device; the year itself is not stored or sent to us. If the answer is under 13, online play stays off and nothing below is collected.
Once online play is on, we store:
- A random player ID. Created automatically. It is not your name, email address or phone number, and we don’t ask for any of those.
- The display name you type. Other players in your games see it. A first name or nickname is all you need.
- What you make in online games: the phrases, guesses and drawings. The other players in the same game see them.
- Your saved and blocked players. Only you can see these lists.
- A notification token for your device, so we can tell you when it’s your turn. Notifications only appear if you allow them.
- Reports you send about another player, with the game they relate to.
- A scrambled device identifier. A one-way code made from your device’s Android ID. We can’t turn it back into the ID, and it isn’t used for advertising or tracking. It exists so that a player who has been banned can’t simply come back with a fresh install.
- Who has saved you. When a player you’ve been in a game with saves you, you get a note saying so, and we keep a count for the "5, 10, 20 players have saved you" notes.
We do not collect your contacts, location, photos, files, email address, phone number or advertising ID. The app cannot send or receive photos or files: the only things players exchange are drawings made in the app and short typed phrases.
What other players can see about you: your display name, and what you draw and type in games you share with them. Nothing else. There are no profiles and no way to look another player up.
Where it’s kept, and for how long
Online play runs on Firebase, a service from Google, which stores this information for us on Google’s servers and delivers notifications. Google handles it under the Firebase privacy terms.
- Online games and everything in them are deleted automatically 30 days after the game is created.
- Your display name and your saved and blocked lists are kept until you delete them.
- Reports are kept for as long as we need them to keep play safe. A game that has been reported is kept for up to a year instead of 30 days, so it can be reviewed.
Deleting your online data
In the app: Play online → Saved and blocked players → Delete my online data. That removes your display name, your lists, your device identifier and your player ID (a ban, if there is one, stays in place). Games you were in are removed on the 30-day schedule above. You can also email us at the address below and we will delete it for you.
Keeping online play safe
- There is no chat. Players exchange only drawings and short phrases, and typed phrases and names are screened for crude language, phone numbers, links, names of other apps, and personal questions.
- “Play with anyone” matches you with other players. They see your display name and what you write and draw in that game, and you see theirs.
- Invites need both sides. Another player can only invite you to a game if you have each saved the other.
- Block and report. You can block or report any player from the player list. A blocked player is not matched with you again and can’t join or invite you. They are told that a player blocked them, but not who. We review reports and may remove players. A player who is blocked by many different people is removed from online play automatically.
- Parent lock. “Play with anyone” can be locked with a PIN on a device, so it can only join games with people you know.
Sharing
When you tap Share after a reveal, the app makes an image of that chain and hands it to Android’s share menu. You choose where it goes. Once shared, the image is handled by the app you chose and its own privacy policy.
Children
Pass-and-play collects nothing from anyone and is suitable for all ages. Online play is for ages 13 and up: the app asks for a year of birth before online play can be used, and keeps it switched off for anyone under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has used online play, email us and we will delete their data.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the effective date above.
